Dear Reader,
It would have been truly astonishing if the United States had not overrun Iraq in a matter of a few weeks. A rich prosperous nation of 350 million against one of 27 million people with a GDP of only 001% that of the U.S. America is a nation that spends more on defense than the next 25 countries combined against an Iraq incumbered with a military drained by ten years of war with Iran, and twelve years of the strictest of economic sanctions. The Bush Administration was wrong about the benefits the war would bring to the Middle East and totally wrong in their approach to funding for it from the start. The cost of the conflict was badly underestimated by the incompetence and miss judgement of our leaders. The campaign of lies and deceptions that led to the Iraq debacle I’ll put aside.
