Since Richard Clarke’s first book Against All Enemies: Inside America’s War On Terror was published in 2004, I have been an admirer of Clarke’s integrity and dedication to the cause of protecting the United States from its enemies and itself no matter where the findings led. For instances in the opening chapters of Clarke’s bestseller he describes President George H. Bush’s unprecedented and unwise determination to rush to war with Iraq mere hours after the 9/11 atrocity that had not previously drawn public attention. I therefore felt his book to be a benchmark in political reporting.
Mr. Clarke’s credentials for criticising administrations is his lengthy ten-year tenure as Chief Counter-Terrorism Adviser to the White House under Bill Clinton and George H.
