Greetings Readers,
Realistically lets face it, the Paris attack was a masterly performed terrorist event, and will go down in history as one of the most effective attacks ever. Their mission was accomplished with zest. The act was extremely well planned and logistically supported. One of the most spectacular terrorist attacks since 9-11, a mini 9-11.
Terrorist guerrilla warfare totals the past two weeks: Russian plane bombing in Egypt 224, Paris attack 129 so far, is 353 vs Seven (7) fanatical terrorists with the will to die for their cause. Those figures are much better than the average guerrilla versus their enemy fighting ratio. It is truly amazing how seven could wreak so much damage and create such international panic that is shaking up the Western World. The network news has been hot and heavy for near four days.
Iraqi intelligence supposedly warned of an imminent attack in France with a few accompanying details. Moreover, so did Turkey provide a warning. Maybe? These after-the-fact, I told you so, I gotcha, are a dime a dozen and usually meaningless.
Now a new energetic, a more dedicated cry for a stepped-up redress and offensive war preparation against the vicious ICIC. That is fine and expected. The coalition of European and Middle East countries are nervous, excited, fearful as some within the United States are, but the program of force will lose thrust as time goes on and what will remain is… ICIC. These fanatical religious movements cannot be stamped out overnight, we are looking at a decade or more, or ever in our time will it end.
In the U. S. we hear “We are Just not tough enough and it’s the weak leadership and Obama’s fault, he just won’t take command.” That’s according to FOx: “See we’ve been right, see what happened in Paris? “We are one step from disaster ourselves.” Hillary, on the campaign trail says ICIC cannot be contained, it must be destroyed.” Easily said. FOx and Hillary join the crowd, but Obama has the right program and says the same thing, but cautiously “Contain and Destroy.” We can’t beat these guys this year or the next or the next. It’s a long-term process, if ever completely accomplished.
In the years ahead, a decade or more we may be battling and skirmishing with these religious fanatics, but also recognize the ISL as a country with laws, as repugnant as they are, and with a negotiated government in place, hopefully with moderate, rational men. This is not impossible. Our bitterest enemies eventually become our friends and allies. (Oh, how you young guys forget WWII, Germany and Japan) History does not always repeat itself, but is sure does hum.
The more all out pressure we placed on ICIC, al Quaida, and their ilk, the more they will grow and spread, some of it behind our backs. (Saudi Arabia is funding hundreds of schools spewing the same Ideology) We the Western coalition are in a quagmire and will spend copious words, effort, treasure and blood in trying to defeat them. In the meantime, fasten your safety belts, we are in for a long haul. Let us remain sensible and not spend our nations’ blood and treasure in this long-term conflict that will lay ahead and should be tasked to others. The U. S. is doing its part, lets not expand it. Obama has the right strategy, massive intervention has never worked in recent times, let’s not fool ourselves, we can’t do it all.
Have a good day ahead, and all the Best.
Ron Miller.
