The Iraq veteran reservist from Alaska Estaban Santiago shot and killed five and wounded eight in a Florida airport was interviewed by the FBI and said he heard voices that told him to listen to ISIS broadcasts. Well I hear voices all the time. I am grateful however the voices are usually good not evil and frequently provide good ideas and they make sense.
Recently I heard a voice that surprisingly came from Donald Trump saying to me in a twit kind of blast, and I quote: ‘People are fools who do not believe close ties with Russia is a good thing.’ How right you are president-elect Trump. Russia is no military or economic threat to the U.S. or to Europe. Take a peek at demographics, 167 million folks in Russia and 900 million in NATO countries. The militarists, the media, and free loading European nations do not want to spend money on defense but for their own domestic goals and more often than not and take advantage to talk-up conflict.
Russia wants to protect its borders and shrinking sphere of influence, and is in no expansionist mood. They have serious economic problems to contend with. That’s the reason for the crackdown on dissent in Russia while Putin aggressively diverts attention from the many troubles by using neighborhood interventions as in Crimea, the Ukraine, and Syria. (Actually, factually, Crimea and the Ukraine have been Russia’s since at least the beginning of czars, some say the ice age)
Moreover readers the Trump warming to Russia fits into the master plan of ultimately two powers against one. The real adversary is China. The neoconservatives love it.
Commemorations, memorials, and tributes are getting out of hand. One cannot open an International TV channel, and U. S. domestic ones too, without seeing at least several each week. There are memorials for World War I & II, the start and the endings of these tragic wars, and Pearl Harbor, D-Day, the Boston Marathon bombing, the Hebo magazine massacre, the various terrorist attacks and skirmishes in France, Germany, and Italy. The multi-restaurant and club assaults, the two truck attacks in France and Germany. These do not include 9-11 fifteen years ago, or San Bernardino last year. Each has its own sad ceremony. For most of the tributes it won’t mean anything ten-twenty years from now, except for the most gruesome major events. They have been in themselves somewhat degrading of Christmas, Easters, the 4th of July and New Years celebrations. The saddest part of all this is in the years to come there will unavoidably be many more. This may be the tip of the iceberg.
Let me remind, if you needed reminding, in this decade, or the next, attacks will in all probably not be executed merely with bombs and bullets, but with terrorists nuclear weaponry. Their use has a characteristic of reducing attendance, that is if anyone is left.
The democratic nation of India seems to have a propensity for raping women. Often buried in the international news media are stories of these regrettable crimes. Usually the men get lean sentences or go completely free of charges. As in Germany on New Years Eve, groups of young Bangalore Indian men attacked, abused, and raped dozens of women celebrating the coming New Year. What can be done about it? How can we deal with young hormonal men taking part in these molestation? I would suggest changing the names of certain cities which only asserbates these aggressive males. They are reminded of sex every time they hear the name of the city: Bangalore, Bang-gal-lore. That goes for Bang-kok too.
All the Best.
PS: I understand Trump has invited Putin into his cabinet as Secretary of Interior. Remember, you heard it here first.
