The big news in Asia yesterday was the deployment of attack drones in South Korea. The placement of the Theater High Altitude Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense System (THAAD) has already been operational in the country these past several months.
Within the 52 days of taking office Trump’s Pentagon has sent, as far as we can determine, 2,500 82nd Airborne troops to Kuwait, 100s of Marines of the 11th Expeditionary Force with heavy artillery to Syria that to support coalition fighters in retaking Raqqa. The Iraqi and Syrian civil wars will go on their usual bloody ways, but in the case of North Korea it could, and would be war. Trump’s Pentagon and Wall Street will favor it and wholeheartedly support the effort.
Ridding the world of the Kim jong Un threat would be for Trump a great accomplishment and thoroughly appreciate by Japan and South Korea among other allies, but the question is what kind of war? Would it be a couple of nuclear drops, surgical strikes, or an all-out ground forces attack led by South Korea’s 600,000 man army and supported by the U. S.? Or would it be a combination of all three? The Korean War II would likely then turn into guerrilla warfare for a few years as a response before the North is completely defeated.
Spending more on ‘Defense’ than the next twenty countries combined, of course including Russia and China, Madelyn Albright once said to Colin Powell before Iraq II ‘With all that military running around why don’t we use them?’ Powell later replied with the pottery shop rule, ‘Once you break it, it’s yours.’ That may not quite be for the U. S. to do, as some of North Korea’s neighbors on the sidelines could lend a hand to repair the destruction. As in Iraq #I the surrounding Arab nations contributed significantly to the enterprise. Japan and Korea could do the same, and it would not cost the U. S a pretty penny.
The way out of this developing potential war with North Korea and allow Donald Trump to be marked in history as one of our best presidents is for Trump to meet with Kim in Midway or Hawaii, the kid craves attention, and negotiate face to face, nation to nation. Trump, as father figure, should advise Kim to cease threatening nuclear war with the U. S. and stop manufacturing more nuclear warheads. Should you not comply, your country will be either dust or a mud puddle. Kim you know this. If you agree however we will give you a fat bonus the size of any average Wall Street Executive, free foreign aid for life, and make your country Great Again.’
How could Kim refuse?
All the Best.
