Greetings Readers,
I lived in a wonderful idyllic apartment complex in Indonesia. It had three spacious second floor bedrooms, open to the sun on three sides, a mango tree in the back, and I could walk out onto the terrace and count the ships passing or were anchored on the Malacca straits. Unfortunately, to my regret I sold the place.
Faced with evacuation and personal travel requirements the disposal of my rather small library was necessary. I mailed some of these books to relatives and friends, and gave away the majority to locals who could read English.
One of the volumes I cherished was a weighty coffee table volume of great historic speeches. There were near a hundred of them from the illiterate Mohammed, to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, to Washington’s farewell speech, Lincoln’s very short Gettysburg address, Martin Luther King, and JFK. Two of the speeches were give Adolphe Hitler, before his failed Munich Beer Garden Putsch and during his exciting, brutal climb to power.
I noticed when Hitler enthusiastically, aggressively you may say, spoke his words reminded of me of a current American political figure.
I will make Germany great again.
I will make Germany supreme again.
I will make Germany proud again
I will place Germans back to work again.
I will make Germany safe again.
After World War I and 20 years of excruciating economic hardship Hitler did all of that for his German people……for a time. Hitler was one of the most convincing and great orators in history. It is said that due to being severely gassed on the battle field his voice had a distinct residence which captivated the political masses.
All the Best to you.
