Greetings Readers,
Two weeks ago I promised to post a few words on the U. S. Secretary of State’s visit to South America, but unfortunately there were server difficulties lasting near a week, but here are those few words.
Last month Secretary of State Rex Tillerson completed his first trip South America with stops in six countries. The visit was not actually urgent, but necessary. Wall Street had impatiently demanded it. China had replaced the U. S. as their number one trading partner in five countries, Argentina, Columbia, Brazil, Peru and Venezuela with two others on the borderline of doing so. Also Rex stopped in at Mexico and Jamaica to reassure them of U. S. support in the ancient drug war. Rex cautioned the hosts the Chinese were not reliable in the long-term promising more than they could deliver, and it best to stay close to an old friend like America. (To some of those countries it seemed to be a veiled Trump threat)
Readers, after reading them I could not resist. Herewith reprinted are two letters gleaned from a weekly news magazine of which I agree with and believe you will too. Both happened to be from Time Magazine.
- Regarding New Nuclear Poker:
The Trump Administration plans to develop terrifying new weapons. World leaders fear we are on a dangerous slide into total annihilation of humanity. By lowering the threshold for using nuclear weapons, Trump’s new plan bellies any claim the U. S. is committed to arms control and nonproliferation. While we never miss an opportunity to waggle our fingers at other regimes developing and improving weapons of mass destruction, we never hesitate to squander taxpayer on our own.

- Making America Great Again:
Making America great again is a commendable goal for a country that is already the world’s foremost superpower. Its achievements in engineering, science, space and technology are the marvel of the world, but your article shows the darker side of this technology. Make no mistake, the developments of ‘tactical’ nuclear weapons, together with crippling sanctions, are not targeted to effect only chiefs of state and heads of governments— but also ordinary men, women, and children the world over. Makes me wonder whether this development will make America the Great Bully Again.

All the Best to you.
