The other night I stayed up late to watch Trump’s United Nations speech and thought it magnificently performed. Mainly in retrospect the president got his point (s) across directly, effectively, and clearly to all who would listen. One must admit Trump is an excellent campaign speaker, while at the U. N. podium he is officially photogenic. A one of a kind.
Early on in summary, I noticed Trump mentioned, and somewhat criticized Russia once, only once, in regard the connection of a gas pipeline feeding Germany natural gas Siberia of which Trump claims will eventually control total energy into the country; perhaps inferring, indicating Germany will be permanently captured as a compromised customer. (Well we know the U. S. is desirous to sell its own abundent natural gas to Germany and the E. U. in lieu of Russia and other energy sellers to Europe. I am sure it is the reason behind Trump-speak)
While I enjoyed President Trump’s show which surprised and shocked most of the attendees country leaders by his egotistical economic and militaristic boasting and veiled threats. Trump will be Trump and it appeared to me the speech, largely for domestic consumption, was not only entertaining, but broadly and overwhelmingly Dangerous.
Trump actually, declared war on the liberal World Order that we are, and were well served, governed by economics and statehood for seventy years. Trump also declared threats to globalization, free trade, long-standing treaties, socialism, Iran and any nation not falling in line to agree with the Trump Administration polices: read China. This while his entourage of Pompeo, Pence, Bolton, and Haley sat smiling and smirking visualized a new American dawn of greatness and dominance, believing Trump is telling it like he should: “My Way or the Highway.” In So many will constructed bullying words, he stated we are a superpower whether you like it or not. So, more or less U. N, Assembly audience, you’re going to have to make a deal with us on our terms.
Contradicting himself several time, Trump stated, the U. S. wants all nations to become sovereign, patriotic, independent countries, protecting their borders and cultures…. that is as long as these nations follow our lead and become contained in respect similar to what we demand, are and will be. In other words we may gather what we want in your limited sphere of influence but we will be free to gather wealth in yours. (Those thieving Chinese are getting a little bothersome in South America)
Trump had praise for two of his international pillars of support, Israel and the Saudi Kingdom both friends and allies of his, and excellent markets of American military weaponry. One cannot disregard the two wealthiest nations in the region who would come to Trump’s aid in a pinch.
Iran on the other hand is a despotic conveyor of corruption, terrorism, and destruction while continuously suppressing its citizens at home. (I wonder what fifty years of sanction had to do with it) This brings to mind the U. S. and Britain overthrew Iran’s democratically elected government in the early 50s replacing it with a gentlemanly but brutal shah to become our reginal puppet despot for 22 years.
And by the way, Iran has not directly invaded another country in over 500 years, yet Trump paints the regime as the only regional purveyor of aggression and terror. Yes, I must admit the description is half-true in view of Iran supporting the Hizbullah in Lebanon, battling for their land stolen by aggression from the Israelis, and the rebel Shiite Hoathi desirous of their own provincial nation in northeastern Yemen. Besides these and fabricated Trump liabilities Iran is complying with the U.N, U. S., Iran Nuclear Treaty of two years ago which is signed, sealed, and delivered by more than seventy countries and as far as can be determined continue to support it in entirety. (The only holdouts were the U. S., Israel, and a couple of island nation in the Pacific.
Trump does not want the moon or the sun yet, he merely wants to eventually control the whole darn world with his own special brand of fascism.
Well Readers, I have said my piece; this and $4.00 will get you and grand cup of coffee at Starbuck’s.
All the Best to you.
